Little Drummer Boy

So all that arm swinging I was worried about with Koleton when he was a little younger? Apparently, the kid has rhythm! haha Whenever I put him in his high chair he just starts "drumming" on it! With both hands now :) He is our little drummer boy lol I tried to make a video but one a camera is on him he kind of freezes! I even had tried being sneaky and setting the camera on the table and hitting record when he wasn't looking... but he saw that red light and just gets mesmerized.  He is so funny!

We went over to Amanda's house last night to watch Zoee so she and Mike could go out. We had fun! Zoee was so sweet with Koleton! She took his paci out of his mouth and would bend over to give him kisses... but he was looking down and she was standing and bending over so she couldn't figure out how to get to his lips! haha It was cute! Then she would take her baby doll's bottle and take his paci out again and give him the bottle.  Koleton would open his mouth for the bottle, then make a "gross, what is this?" face haha She'd pretend to give him his paci back, then give him the bottle again lol They'd go back and forth a few times before he'd start fussing like "ok already! Give me something!" :)

I put him in her little car they use their feet to move around in and Zoee climbed in right next to him :) She squished in there and was hanging out a little... It was way past Koleton's bedtime so he was already fussy.  I tried to take a picture but I had to get my phone out of my pocket, unlock it, turn the camera on, and wait for it to turn on... as soon as it was ready he started crying :( Too bad cause it would have been so cute! I'm sure they will do it again! :)

Koleton is still not a full time crawler... however he is getting around faster with his little scooting he does :)  I have a feeling it won't be long after he actually starts crawling that he'll be standing and then walking! He loves to be standing and though he isn't pulling himself up yet on anything besides holding our fingers, he can stand there for a while just leaned up against my legs or holding my fingers.  He loves it! He doesn't quite have the balance yet... but I'm sure it has something to do with that huge brain he has ;) haha

Koleton does this thing now where he will be sitting right in front of me facing away and he will twist his whole body around with his arms up like he wants to hug me or cuddle :) It is so sweet! Except as soon as Brad or I pick him up from him doing that, he starts to push away from us lol He just wants to be on the go so badly! He is always trying to get out of our arms and to something! Lord help me once he figures out how to go!!!

On the Move!

It's official! Koleton is on the move! He may not be up on his hands and knees crawling around the house BUT he gets to where he wants to go! He has rolled to get toys, pushed himself forward with his feet etc before. Tonight, however, he went from the family room on his toy mat, to the living room, back to the family room, to the living room, towards the hall ALL OVER!!! He uses whatever "device" he can to get there haha He rolls, scoots, crawls, pushes himself forward, whatever will get him there :) We were (ok, it was me lol) "bribing" him with orange sherbet earlier haha He is getting so big! Soon he will be all around and into everything! We have started baby proofing the house, but now we need to finish everything this weekend!

We don't have many activities planned this week so I am taking advantage and trying to get the house in order :) Plus Koleton has had a runny nose since Thursday at the park... still not sure if it's allergies or a cold but poor little guy is congested and all runny :( It hasn't changed colors or anything which leads me to think allergies BUT I am not sure. I hope he starts feeling better soon... he is pretty tired of me suctioning his poor nose :(

Outtings this week

We had a playdate at the mall this week. I brought along Koleton's blocks so he would have something to do (and maybe crawl after if there weren't too many kids). I knew the other kids would want to play with them as well... I mean they are toys! lol Sure enough, I had Koleton on the floor on his blanket all set up with his blocks and all the kids came over and sat with him and started playing :) It was pretty cute... though I don't know what Koleton though of it haha He just kind of sat there.  One little girl, who is a little over a year old, came over and sat right on top of him lol Once she finally decided to sit, she just plopped down with authority! I scooted Koleton over a bit and thought, what a great chance for a picture of him with one of his new "friends"! So here it is... and how often do you catch an infant and a toddler looking at the camera at the same time?!

If you look, you can see she is still on his leg! lol His little foot is between her legs, so cute! :)

After the mall, we went to the duck pond with Amanda and Zoee. That was fun :) We walked around it and Zoee went chasing the birds around. I can't wait for Koleton to be old enough to do that!!! He just chilled in his stroller and watched the birds :)

Yesterday we had a playdate at the park by our house. It is a HUGE park they just remodeled. It was pretty nice! A few girls showed up and the kids had a good time! I felt kind of bad that Koleton doesn't get to "participate" yet so I took him around and put him on the little rocking horses and he loved it! He also went down the big slide holding my hands... omg he was all smiles going down! Cutest thing ever!!! The wind was blowing and Koleton seemed like he was trying to catch it in his mouth haha He kept opening his mouth and making a face, like a half smile/pondering face lol It was so cute :) It is hard to take pictures of him when I'm trying to hold him so he doesn't fall... But I got a couple decent shots

See his mouth open in the first and second picture? That is what he was doing the whole time we were there lol The first picture is a better shot, the second he was mid face change haha Anyhow, we had fun!

Our little army crawler!

So it's official! Koleton is on the move! He isn't quite up on all fours crawling yet, but he can get to what he wants if he chooses to anyway lol It is so cute, he turns his little feet so he can grip the carpet with his toes and he pushes himself. He gets up on his knees much easier now (still with the monkey toe grip haha) and he can support himself with his arms, but he still needs to figure out how to get up on his hands from his elbows once he gets on his knees.  He will get it though :)

Cool, wasn't sure if I could upload the video here! Well here it is, his first time on the move :) I know I'm talking a lot, but he really does like the encouragement! He gets all smiley when I tell him "Go, Koleton, Go!" :) If you are on Facebook as well, it is the same video I posted there :)

His newest thing...

So Koleton's newest thing is tilting his head.  He leans over and tilts his head to one side or the other! At first I thought maybe his ears were bothering him or something, but no. He thinks it is funny! lol Especially if you tilt your head to mirror his. He laughs and laughs :) That kid is so cute! It is so funny too, because when he gets tired, like really over tired way past his bed/nap time... he gets silly lol Everything is funny and he laughs at pretty much anything.

He also started trying out the 3rd stage of foods the other day!  He makes a chewing motion with his jaw so I figured, heck why not?! Though those are for "crawlers" and he is not yet on the move...he feeds himself cheetos and well pretty much any food he gets his grubby little paws on! (baby cheetos... like veggie puffs really lol) It is so adorable... I give him just little bites so he can chew the bits of food in them. He looks like he is concentrating so hard lol Sometimes he looks at me like "Really??? Why are you making me work at this? It was so easy to just swallow the food before!" lol I stocked him up on all different kinds of baby food today! His regular fruits and veggies, the 3rd food dinners, some 3rd food sweet potatoes and green beans (his favorites), more baby puffs, baby yogurt, little carrot and apple dices he can pick up and practice chewing, juice with a new sippy cup (he is still working on learning lol), freeze dried yogurt bits, and little flavored cereal pieces.  He may be little, but he can put that food away! He loves feeding himself! It is funny though when I put something new on his tray, before he can even smell it he makes a face like "ewwww" lol then he grabs whatever it is and starts eating it. But this face is so extreme he even shudders lol Kinda like if I were to give him a lemon or something. OH we also bought him a REAL high chair yesterday :) He has a portable one that straps to a dining chair but he was getting FAR too interested in getting the straps! He would lean over, try to get them for a few minutes, pop up for a bite, then lean back over lol He really is a little stinker!  Anyhow, he LOVES his new chair! It puts him higher up and he just looks so proud sitting in it :) He is just such a goofy but amazing baby!!!

So tonight we had another Mommy's Night Out :) We went to dinner at a mexican restaurant out here and it was pretty good! Only two other moms came, which was a little disappointing, but heck we had a good time! Brad was left to his devices with Mr. Koleton... which is fine, I knew nothing bad would happen :)  Apparently this time was a little easier than the last, although Koleton wouldn't stay asleep. When I got home, they were in the chair rocking but weren't asleep.  Well, Koleton does this thing now where if you ask him something (or I'm not actually sure what gets him to do this but it is cute) he buries his head in your shoulder laughing and starts pushing his feet like he is trying to crawl up your chest.  So we are trying to teach him to put his arms out when he wants to go to someone. I was holding him while Brad made his bottle, then just to see, I told him to "go see Daddy" which he leaned towards him and kind of lifted his arms. It was so cute.... until I said "ok come to Mommy" and the little stinker turned towards Brad, buried his face in his shoulder and started laughing! He wouldn't come to me! He was just laughing and playing and no matter what he would not put his arms out for me! I swore I wasn't ever going out again! (but really I will lol) It was cute though :) Apparently he really likes that game! lol

So Amanda and I are looking to start going to the YMCA out here to start working out. Well we went to go on a tour and they said we couldn't take our kids with us into the locker rooms for the tour, so we had to leave them in the nursery. This would be fine except in 7 months I have only left Koleton with Brad! Well we went and checked out the nursery and it was ok... the girl in there seemed friendly and nice, they had a baby section blocked off with walkers and exersaucers etc. Well Koleton will sit in his exersaucer for a while at home, so I put him in it to see what he would do. He started playing a little, then, since he was content, I left the baby area. No crying still! So we told the girl we were gonna go on our tour... we snuck out and were in the lobby waiting, still we didn't hear any crying! I was thrilled! Maybe this whole leaving him in the nursery won't be that horribly traumatic for either of us! So on the tour we went. Was a nice place... we are probably going to sign up next week! We get back to the lobby area and there is Koleton... crying his little heart out :( Well, he was to the point where he would cry then stop, then cry, then stop lol I went to go get him and she said he was ok for like a minute when he realized I was gone and he started crying :( She held him while we were gone, and when I leave him there it won't be for very long. But as long as they are ok with him crying until he gets used to it, I know it is good for him to be there and used to other people watching him! Plus I'm hoping he will be a little more used to the idea of other people holding him so our AZ trip isn't horrible and he can get to know his family out there! I still broke my heart though... poor kid :(

Snow!

Wow... I don't think "cold" even cuts it! It is freezing! The past few days have been snowy and super cold! Last night it snowed enough to cover our street... all you could see outside was white! I know its not snow like the midwest etc gets BUT this is Texas! And being from Arizona, I am definitely not accustomed to this kind of weather! Koleton and I have been staying inside trying to keep warm :) Yesterday they were doing rolling power blackouts because apparently everyone is using too much electricity to warm their homes! Ours was out for about an hour...not too long! Some people were without power for hours on end! We did have one of our pipes freeze up though...no cold water in the kitchen :( My father in law came over and worked on it yesterday and had to come back today to try to get it working! They put a BIG heater under the house and it melted whatever was frozen in there so we now have water in the kitchen... hooray!

Sorry, I got distracted and never posted this... it was a couple of days ago! lol
