Fishy Face (...and poop!)

I have written before about how rather than actually giving kisses (Koleton's not a big fan of this yet...) he will just make the kissy sound.  He still does the kissy sound back, but now he makes a fish face along with it! Brad came home from work one day and Koleton was all about the fishy kisses! I grabbed Brad's phone (it was the closest picture taking gadget) and snapped a couple pictures :)

 Kisses!

Reeeeaaaalllly BIG kisses! :D

This was just too cute :) I'm glad Brad had his phone on him... otherwise we most likely wouldn't have gotten pictures. Generally once I go searching for a phone or camera Koleton grows bored of his new "trick" and I don't get a good picture.

Here's an embarrassing story.... one of those I'm sure we'll bring up when Koleton brings his girlfriend over to meet the family ;) haha His bathtime is anywhere between 7 and 7:30, depending on when he woke up from his afternoon nap and how grumpy he is.  Well, if he needs a new diaper a little before then, rather than waste a diaper (he is known to not leave a dry diaper dry for long!) I let him run around naked until bathtime.  I figure he could use a little "air drying" every now and then! haha Well, one of his absolute favorite things to do is to go stand at the glass door and just look outside.  Tonight was no different.  I bring him out to the living room in just a t-shirt, no diaper and start walking around with him.  He headed straight to the door. Walter (our puppy) was outside the door and Koleton likes to talk to him and "play" with him through the door lol I didn't care, I mean 1. he is a baby and 2. our neighbors can't see him anyway.  I was sitting on the arm of the couch next to Brad watching Koleton when I hear him peeing on the glass door lol Brad and I started laughing :) It was so funny.  I turn to watch something on tv and Brad had went to another room, when I turn back to look at Koleton he has poop hanging from his bum!!! OMG apparently he wasn't done! I am running through the house to get SOMETHING, ANYTHING to get it before it hits the floor!!! "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" I kept saying over and over as I ran to get some paper towels. Brad comes back in wondering what the heck is going on! I, still chanting and praying, come running back into the living room to clean him up! He was oblivious!!! Just kept playing with Walter! lol Thankfully he got cleaned up without much of a mess! Brad and I were laughing hysterically! I went to throw the paper towels away and Brad picks Koleton up and holds him away from him and takes him to his room to clean him up. That was the funniest minute of my whole day!!! Maybe it was one of those "had to be there" type deals, but I figured I'd document it anyway :)

Here's a cute way to end this blog... we went grocery shopping today and look what we found!!!

My handsome little man couldn't wait to get into them! ;)

A little behind!

Well apparently I am a little behind on my blog! I can't believe it has been almost 2 weeks! Koleton is still as darling as ever ;) Brad's brother got us a gift certificate to get Koleton's pictures done with a photographer friend of his for Christmas.  We finally got his pictures done with her  and they turned out so cute! Of course Koleton was tired and is not a fan of posing for pictures anymore haha But I think she did an amazing job and we have already booked his 1 year pictures with her!  Here are a couple of  my favorites :)

Ok so it's more than a few but it is hard to choose! lol I don't know why some are sideways, but you get the idea :)

So I haven't posted about Koleton's new "cry". Oh My Goodness! It is this horrendous kinda scratchy throat scream cry!!! He does it when he doesn't get his way, when he is driving something around like a car and it gets "stuck", when I don't rush in to get him when he is supposed to be sleeping, and various other times! Sometimes it is cute, but really, mostly, it is just obnoxious lol

On the walking front... we were making progress! He was walking back and forth between Brad and I :) Then he was walking and faceplanted pretty good into the floor :( Now when you are "walking" him, he frantically reaches for your hand or finger or whatever he can get a hold of! When we play walk the baby between Brad and I, I will hold him at his waist so he feels steady and then once he starts going, let him go.  So slowly we are getting back on track :) We also got him a new walking toy I found at Goodwill. He has one  that my mom got him, but I don't know why but it just walks TOO fast for him and he just falls over.  He LOVE LOVE LOVEs this new one! He goes back and forth across the house just giggling and smiling :D I think he loves the independence of being able to walk and get somewhere on his own :)
I mean, look at this smile on his face!!!!

Soon he will be walking! And less than 2 months until my sweet little baby is a whole year old!!! Where does the time go?! No matter how old he is, he will always be my sweet little baby! ;)

Mother's Day!

Well, did I get to sleep in today? No :( haha Overall though, I cannot complain about my very first Mother's Day! Brad went to the store first thing this morning and went and got the things Koleton "told" him to get me ;) He came home with flowers, white chocolate covered strawberries, and some lindor chocolates... YUM!  lol He even got a card for me from Koleton :) Then Brad whipped up my favorite breakfast...a feta cheese and spinach omelet! He made bacon and english muffins too.  We just hung out around the house for most of the day after the eventful morning :)

Poor Koleton is cutting his top middle teeth and seems miserable :( Don't get me wrong... he is a GREAT teether! But the poor kid's teeth are hurting him and his ears. He has been playing with his ears a bit today as well.  Since last night, he hasn't been sleeping very well... even for naps. I figure it's because he is in pain.  There was a warning put out about Orajel (of course a couple days after he started teething and I started putting it on his gums) that it can cause some deadly reaction, even if they have been fine using it before. Great. So I went and got a new kind of gum number (Hylands) and he HATES it haha He would suck the Orajel off of my finger, but closes his mouth TIGHT when it is the Hylands lol He was so grumpy today... woke up crying, almost sobbing, from each of his naps, my poor baby :( I gave him some tylenol tonight and some more Hylands, so hopefully he can get some rest!

We had quite the mishap tonight at dinner time... we ordered Chili's to go, since we weren't braving actually GOING to a restaurant. Any night out here seems to be busy, with weekends only being busier... and to top it off it is Mother's Day! haha! Well, long story short, it took an hour longer than they said on their website, and then EVERYTHING was wrong with our order! While Brad was on the phone trying to talk to a manager, I decided to see if Koleton would stand on his own since he is SO good at squatting down and balancing. Well, he did it! I just stood him up, let him go, and he stood there and caught himself when he was falling :) I was so excited! I went to go tell Brad and then back to get Koleton to show him lol We sat on the floor (so Koleton would know I was there to catch him if he fell cause he wasn't doing it with us both standing) and I let him go and he walked right to Brad!!!! Three steps!!! Not falling and running, but stranding straight up WALKING!!! I almost cried I was so excited! I couldn't believe it! We then played pass the baby again and he walked a few more times (before he got way more interested in Brad's guitar haha) It won't be long now til he will be running and playing with his friends and trying to escape the play area at the mall ;) haha!

This was most definitely a day I will never forget! What an amazing Mother's Day!!!

Kisses and Sharing :)

So whenever I ask Koleton for kisses, I look at him, say "Give Mama kisses, please" and pucker up and make the kissy sound.  Well instead of giving actual kisses now, he just makes the kissy sound lol Sometimes he will give out the real thing... but man is he ever stingy with those kisses! haha! The little kissy sound is sooo cute though so it will do... for now! ;)

He also LOVES sharing with me.  If he is eating his baby cheetos, he'll take a bite, then offer some to me :) Of course I take "bites" and he smiles SO big and then shoves the rest of the cheeto into his mouth lol It's not just his cheetos... its pretty much anything he can feed himself.  Oh and now that he drinks out of his sippy cup with the straw, he will share that with me too :) And any toy that he is chewing on... he will take a break from chewing to offer me a chance to get a nibble or two in ;) He is the cutest, sweetest boy I know! I love him so much!

(A couple of those "cute" things I had forgotten to post earlier!)

Almost 10 months!!!

Well tomorrow he will officially be 10 months! Wow! It's almost time to start thinking about his first birthday! It is the weirdest thing, and anyone who is a mom will understand this. It seems like just yesterday he was born, so little and helpless and brand new! On the other hand, I can't imagine my life before him or without him! It's like he's always been there, always been in our lives. So it was just yesterday BUT it also has been forever (in a good way lol). Crazy how that works! He amazes me everyday with the things he does! Of course I think, man I need to make sure to document this, it is soooo cute! And then I sit here behind my keyboard and I don't remember everything he is doing lol

Koleton gets such JOY from walking! He still needs our help, but when he is up on his feet cruising around the house the smile on his face is priceless!  Brad and I have started having him walk to the other... you know, like you do when teaching them to walk? "Go get Mama! Go get Daddy!" He LOVES it! He reaches for our hands before he will step. He's not too sure about being able to balance himself on his own yet. This could be because apparently he has a big head! lol When we went in for his 9 month check up, his height and weight were in the 25th percentile, but his head was in the 50+ percentile! lol More room for those brains I suppose! ;) I know he'll get it and he will be walking and running before I know it! And again, I'm not rushing him to grow up too soon because I know it all goes by TOO fast! He will walk when he's ready to walk :)

EVERYTHING Koleton can get his little hands on is a car lol I know I blogged about it before, but I wasn't kidding lol EVERYTHING!!! We got him some fake play food and put it in a plastic tub... the tub is his car. His racetrack for his cars is a car lol His little ride on toy that transforms into a walking toy is a car! haha He just finds whatever he can get his little hand on and pushes it around crawling behind it :) He has a hard time steering the big "cars" though lol He just fusses for a second to get my attention, then looks at me like "ok, Mama, I'm stuck... a little help here?" haha Little Stinker!!!

Speaking of fussing for a second...our child is PRO faker!!! We have "rules" for him now that he is mobile... like he can't go into Daddy's "man cave" or our bedroom because there are too many things he can get hurt on. Or he can't stand up in the bathtub because we don't want him to slip.  Or don't play in the dog or cat's water dish lol Simple rules really, but leave it to our stubborn son to push his limits.  He knows the rules... we are consistent enough in telling him no that he knows.  If he gets "caught" playing in the water he looks at you like "uh oh, BUSTED!" lol He gets this cute little grin on his face.  If he is crawling somewhere he isn't supposed to go, either he will stop, grin and turn around OR he will start "running" and try to escape lol  If he does the latter... that's when the no's get more serious. He'll get a much louder and "I mean business" "Koleton! No going in mommy's room!". That's when the lip comes out, the tears start forming and the "crying" begins! The lip is the greatest!!! It quivers and everything! haha As soon as I distract him with something else, the "crying" stops.

Bedtime has also become a GREAT opportunity for Koleton to practice his crocodile tears! We have his bedtime routine down, same as it has been for months.  The same rules apply... either I rock him to sleep, or he goes to sleep on his own in his bed.. but it's not play time.  Lately, he hasn't been wanting me to rock him to sleep, so I go put him in his bed, kisses and goodnights and I love yous. It's not a punishment for him to go to his crib, it's just bedtime.  He lays there for a few minutes (if that) then stands up, spits his pacifier out of his bed onto the floor (I watched him from the crack in his door lol) and stands there and talks hoping I'll come get him I suppose. I generally leave him for a few minutes and then the "crying" starts. This is the ULTIMATE fake crying. It can sound real... until he gets to the end of his "cry" and just starts talking lol As soon as I open the door, he is laughing and jumping and ready for me to "save" him haha Most times he doesn't even fake tears! It's just the crying sound! lol This is the next of my battles.... Maybe we'll keep him up an extra half hour before his bath. Maybe he will have to cry it out. Maybe I'll just have to keep rocking him until he is asleep. It's all trial and error, but I know it will remedy itself soon :) Afterall... this is the kid who pretty much sleep trained himself! I'm hoping this is just a phase that he grows out of and will start going to sleep on his own again soon!!! :)

Dancin' Fool!

For most of his life, Koleton has been such a chill baby. Very go with the flow, calm, relaxed and happy! He hated being on his tummy and seemed to take forever to hold his head up. We put him in his exersaucer and would have to make sure he was facing his favorite toys on it because he wouldn't spin himself to get to them haha Now that he is on the move, its like he has found his freedom! He is a PRO crawler, even "runs" while crawling! If you hold his hands so he is walking... he doesn't walk, he runs! Brad even told him last night "Son, you need to walk before you can run!" lol Now when he is in his exersaucer he jumps and bounces and spins and rocks side to side lol He is so active! He is even starting to dance :) When I sing to him or there is music on, he starts bouncing and rocking side to side! Heck, even if there isn't music on he sings and bounces or rocks lol It is so darn cute!!!

I have posted before how he plays with his cars. He LOVES them! Now he "drives" anything around lol We had to pull out the space heater cause it has been cold these past couple of days and he knocked it over (yes, it was off) and tried driving that right out of the bathroom haha He doesn't care if its a car, a shampoo bottle, a computer mouse or a heater.... if he can move it, it is his car :) For Easter, we got him a big car that when you shake this rattle or start to move it it drives forward. That is his FAVORITE toy! He loves driving that thing around! I think because it makes driving sounds. He loves it so much! The only bad thing about it is that it is too big for him to really control which way it goes. It just drives straight so it gets "caught" on the walls pretty quick and he gets frustrated because he can't drive it anymore. Often it ends up under his crib. I went into his room and saw him looking under his bed to find it. THAT was so cute! He had almost turned himself upside down to see where it went lol I tried to get a picture of it, but when he heard the camera he turned around and stopped. I need to find a way to silence that camera! He is so much more difficult to take pictures of these days! And I'm sure it will only get "worse"! haha

Our Little Demon Child

Yes, you heard (or read rather) correctly... Koleton is our little demon. No, he isn't behaving badly... nor is he really getting into trouble. He now crawls around saying "ahrwa ahrwa ahrwa" in a deep, whispery demon-like voice! If he weren't so darn cute it could be rather frightening! haha He also says "NAH NAH NAH NAH" and yes the capitals means he mostly YELLS it lol Now I'm not sure if he means "no no no no" since he is so used to hearing "NO, Koleton!" these days, but I'm turning his nah nah nahs into no no nos. Whenever he says it, I look at him, shake my head, wave my finger and say "No, no, no"... and Koleton laughs :) Sometimes he repeats it, sometimes he doesn't. And he doesn't say it just 3 times like I do. So, I'm not officially saying that he spoke his first word... however, I'm sure it won't be long! He also says "da da da da" and "ma ma ma ma" so until we are for certain that he is directing it at someone or saying what it sounds like he is saying...nothing is "official" haha

I think that for my birthday I'm going to get a baby with his two front teeth! Yes, Koleton is teething again! It looks as though his two top front teeth are going to break through any time! Luckily he is such a good teether! Maybe as they get closer he will need some Orajel or something... maybe start being a little fussier but as of now, he is still our sweet little "demon" boy! :)
